My story

How it started

I have been interested in ham radio for a long time, however, I passed the radio exam in Rzeszów and I got a license in 2017. Big thanks to SQ7CL because under his influence I became seriously interested in ham radio!

Since then: dozens of contests (CQ WW, WPX, ARRL RTTY Roundup), a second contest callsign SQ0Q, a solar weather station, a solar-powered DMR hotspot, NOAA satellite reception and, since 2020, stratospheric balloons.

Equipment

In the shack

HF / VHF / UHF SDR transceiver

Yaesu FTX-1

An all-mode SDR transceiver covering 160 m to 70 cm (HF, 6 m, 2 m and 70 cm) with two independent SDR receivers, so two bands can be watched at the same time.

More

The 4.3-inch colour touchscreen shows a 3D spectrum scope. Modes: SSB, CW, AM, FM, C4FM and data, with WIRES-X support and advanced DSP filtering.

ICOM IC-7300
HF transceiver

ICOM IC-7300

The Icom IC-7300 saw its debut at the Tokyo Hamfair August 2015 and was the star of the Dayton Hamvention™ May 2016. This new HF plus 6 meter 100 watt transceiver hosts new capabilities and technologies for its class.

More

Receive coverage is 30 kHz to 74.8 MHz. Transmit is: 1.8–1.999, 3.5–3.999, 5.255–5.405*, 7–7.3, 10–10.15, 14–14.35, 18.068–18.168, 21–21.45, 24.89–24.99, 28–29.7 and 50–54 MHz. Instead of the conventional superheterodyne system, a direct RF sampling approach is used. The brilliant TFT touch screen provides complete operational status including a stunning real-time spectrum display with waterfall plus a useful audio scope display. There is a built-in tuner.

ICOM IC-718
HF transceiver

ICOM IC-718

The Icom IC-718 covers 160-10 meters. This radio is very easy to operate with one touch band switching, direct frequency input via keypad and auto tuning steps (senses the rate at which the tuning knob is turned).

More

The receiver section features IF Shift, Adjustable Noise Blanker, RIT and formerly optional UT-106 DSP Automatic Notch/Noise Reduction. These big rig features give you the necessary tools to fight interference. You get 99 regular memories and 2 scan edge memories. You can scan memories or scan between two specific frequencies. The transmit section features up to 100 watts of RF output and AF speech compression to increase average audio output. A Morse keyer is built-in.

The front panel houses a 4-frequency color LCD display with S-meter, function buttons, volume and frequency / channel controls, and a microphone jack. 25 W output at high power is really a lot for such a small radio. Thanks to its small size and low current draw, it works well as an expedition radio or on a motorbike or scooter. The large, legible 5-line color matrix display lets you choose fonts, background colors and more.

Baofeng UV-82
Handheld VHF / UHF

Baofeng UV-82

The UV-82 Series come with a dual push-to-talk button. The dual PTT is a huge leap forward in the HT technology. It allows you to transmit on two frequencies by the use of the rocker PTT switch.

More

By pressing up you can transmit on "Frequency A" and by pushing down you can transmit on "Frequency B". Frequency A or B can also be used as a scanner of channels, frequencies, CTCSS and DTS tones. Compared to previous BaoFeng products (UV-5R, GT-3, and the v2+ Series) the UV-82 comes with a much louder speaker (1 watt), a much more solid case with larger buttons, and a new chipset and PCB board that outperforms the range, accuracy, and output of the previous BaoFeng chipsets.

IN-CN600
SWR meter

IN-CN600

HF / VHF / UHF dual-band SWR meter (reflectometer) that measures power up to 3 kW. Frequency ranges: 1.8–200 MHz and 140–525 MHz. Power ranges: 30 W, 300 W, 600 W / 3000 W.

More

Unlike the IN-601, it does not need any additional steps to measure SWR.

LDG Z-100 Plus
Tuner

LDG Z-100 Plus

The LDG Z-100Plus is a small, low-cost automatic tuner suitable for any amateur purpose, whether base, mobile or portable. It handles up to 125 watts SSB or CW, but requires only 0.

More

1 watts to tune, making it ideal for QRP operation. Like all LDG tuners the Z-100Plus features LDG's advanced memory tuning, providing 2,000 memory locations; when tuning near a previously used frequency it will recall the settings for nearly instant tuning.
